One-liner
25 wordsWishpile is a free gift-planning app that keeps every gift idea, budget, and family wishlist in one shared place, without ever spoiling a surprise.
Short
50 wordsWishpile is a free gift-planning app for families and friends. It keeps every gift idea, per-person budget, and shared wishlist in one place, and hides claimed gifts from the person receiving them, so a whole family can plan together without anyone ruining their own surprise. It runs in any browser, with nothing to install.
Long
115 wordsWishpile is a free gift-planning app that replaces the spreadsheet, the group chat, and the panic gift card. Families and friends keep every gift idea, per-person budget, and wishlist in one shared place, tracking each present from idea to bought to wrapped. Claims are hidden from the person receiving the gift, so relatives can coordinate in the open without spoiling a single surprise. Group gifts let several people split the cost, and a built-in Secret Santa generator draws names with exclusions and private reveals. Wishpile runs in any browser on any phone or computer, with nothing for participants to install. Core features are free permanently.
What it does
Gift lists for everyone
Every person you buy for gets a list. Each gift moves from idea to bought to wrapped, so you always know what is still outstanding.
Budgets per person
Set a spending limit for each person and see what is committed against it before you overspend, not after the statement arrives.
Shared family wishlists
Everyone keeps their own wishlist and shares it to a family group, so relatives buy what people actually want.
Claims the recipient never sees
When someone claims a gift on your wishlist, the claim is hidden from you by design. Relatives coordinate in the open; you stay surprised.
Group gifts
Several people chip in on one expensive present, with each contributor’s share of the cost tracked in the app.
Secret Santa generator
Draw names with exclusions (no drawing your spouse), private reveals, a shared budget, and wishlists attached to each assignment.
Why it is different
The short version: shared gift lists usually force a trade between coordinating and staying surprised. Wishpile removes that trade.
The surprise is the product
Most shared-list tools leak. Wishpile enforces the surprise at the database level: claims on your wishlist are invisible to you, permanently.
Nothing to install, for anyone
Wishpile runs in the browser. Family members can view and add to a shared wishlist from a link, on any phone, with no app store trip.
Participants do not need an account
Someone can be included in a list, a group, or a Secret Santa draw without signing up, which is what makes a whole extended family adopt it.
Free, and honest about why
Core features are free permanently. Running costs are covered by affiliate links on retailers like Amazon, which never change the price you pay.
No ads, no data selling
Wishpile runs no advertising, builds no cross-site tracking profiles, and does not collect your contacts, location, or browsing history.
Built for the whole year
Not a December-only tool. Birthdays, anniversaries, and “saw this, she would love it” ideas in March all live in the same place.
Screenshots
Real screens from the live app, free to use in coverage. Email us for higher-resolution files or a specific screen.
What it costs
Free, permanently, for core features.
Lists, family groups, claiming, per-person budgets, group gifts, and Secret Santa are free and will remain free. Wishpile may add an optional paid plan covering additional features later. If that happens it will require an explicit opt-in, and nothing that is free today moves behind it.
Running costs are covered by affiliate links: product links to supported retailers, starting with Amazon, become affiliate links. That never changes the price you pay and never changes which gifts are shown.
About and founder
Wishpile is built by Shannon Wilson under OTC MVP LLC, an independent software studio. It is a small, self-funded product with no investors and no growth team behind it.
Wishpile started from the ordinary problem of coordinating family gifts across a spreadsheet, a group chat, and a lot of guessing, and from the observation that every tool built to fix it either spoiled the surprise or asked everyone to install an app.
Available for interviews, product walkthroughs, and commentary on gift-giving, family coordination, and building software independently. Reach out at info@wishpile.com.
Brand assets
Please do not stretch, recolour, or add effects to the logo. Email us for source files or a format that is not here.
